Art Walk featuring Genevieve Strickland “Finding the Light”
June 18, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
“Finding the Light”
Genevieve Strickland is a
full-time artist, therapist, wife, and mother. She seamlessly blends her
background in studio art and psychology to remind us that the world is
fascinating, joyful, and rejuvenating. She explores familiar, natural scenes of
the Carolinas and brings them to life in vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes
to create expressive and powerful work. For Genevieve, “Finding the
Light” is capturing those beautiful moments when sunlight glows along the
water and the sunrise trickles over the hills. Pulling from her work in the
mental health field, she is reminded that there are flashes of hope in even the
darkest of places.
Genevieve is a low-country native, growing up surrounded by shorelines and marshlands. She has since made Upstate South Carolina her permanent home, along with her husband, two boys, and their three-legged dog Elsie.
In addition to painting full-time in her home studio, Genevieve is a licensed and practicing marriage and family therapist. She is an alumna of Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy and a Graduate Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
